Chicago, IL — One of Chicagoıs hottest fanfare events, Dare 2 Dream, will kick off its seventh benefit event on Friday, February 5th, 2010 at the House of Blues in Chicago. Rock icons and featured band, Govıt Mule, will perform to support pediatric cancer research and treatment. A portion of the eventıs proceeds will benefit the University of Chicago Comer Childrenıs Hospital, and its teams of pediatric experts using advanced diagnostic and therapeutic techniques to care for children of all ages. The event is hosted by Platform One Entertainment with support from The Lisa Klitzky Foundation, Fiji Water, SPIN Magazine, 93XRT, Chicago Reader, Chicago Tribuneıs Redeye, North Shore Magazine and The Onion.

Cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in the U.S. for children between infancy and 15 years of age. Yet most of the causes of pediatric cancer are still unknown. Though thousands of scientists and clinicians are committed to the study of cancer prevention and treatment, research has been constrained in recent years as the governmentıs cancer research budget remained flat. Given the prevalence and severity of this disease, society must stay committed to healing as many people as possible and finding cures.

Legendary rock band Govıt Mule will headline this Dare 2 Dream event. Led by Warren Haynes - also a member of The Dead and The Allman Brothers Band, and one of Rolling Stonesı Top 25 Greatest Guitarists of All Time - Govıt Mule has, over the course of eight studio albums and over 1,500 concert performances, built both an extensive, evolving body of work and a devoted fan base. The Grammy nominated band has sold over one million albums to date and has sold over 2 Million Songs from its live performances through their website (mule.net). They are thrilled to be performing for Dare 2 Dream in Chicago this February to support pediatric cancer research and treatment.

The University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital pediatric oncology team is focused on all aspects of cancer care for children, from diagnosis and treatment to conducting research on promising new therapies. Cancer specialists at Comer treat more than 3,000 children each year. The hospital is dedicated to helping kids with cancer beat the disease so they can live active, full lives.
